It was quite an experience learning and seeing how this hospital works together in the children’s hospital. I could tell how much teamwork they do to keep the flow of the pediatric unit running as smooth as possible. It is important for all of them to work together because working with a child is harder than with an adult. The children are scared so you need more help to help keep the child calm and educate him on what is going on. This hospital has many beds compared to my previous experience with a children’s hospital. I did like seeing the difference between one hospital to another. This hospital has family-centered care because they focus everything on the child and the family. They encourage family members to stay with the children and try to stay involved with their treatment. June 12th Tuesday

  The people do in this community do the tribal and the casino has a part in it. They get to vote on what is decided upon the community. They have a chief that oversees the tribal council.   The tribal council has a lot of power in the community but they all must come to an agreement that benefits all of the community and not just certain people. To them it is important to have everyone benefit from the health care system. They try to influence many to go to the health center. The members of the health care team are the doctors, nurses, cna's, dietary, respiratory therapy, laboratory, security, physical/occupational therapy, wound care, and psychiatrist. They are all part of the health care team that help try to make every patient feel welcomed and help them out by taking care of them. My first impression of the environment in Cherokee is great, I feel like they are all very friendly and family-oriented. Which I grew up being very family oriented, so I can relate to them. They have a lot for respect for their elders, I think that is amazing and it should be like that everywhere. Everyone seems to be very open to having people come and learn about their culture. I like how even after the Americans taking their land from them, they still are welcoming to them. The environment seems to be all about giving each other support in the community. I think it is very interesting about this culture's history that after everything they have been through they are still willing to be peaceful with Americans. Even after the Americans took their land from them and killed many from the Cherokee tribe, they still want peace.
